Week 33 went by super fast with family in town and Christmas as great distractions! I can’t believe that in just 21 days, Baby C will be full term and that in 42 days her due date will be here! Seriously, where is time going? I’m keeping my fingers crossed time continues to fly by until she is here! Currently, I’m in my 34th week, which is the week my sister gave birth to her daughter. Although I want to meet Cameryn so badly, I would like her to stay put for at least another 4 weeks! We still have lots to get done before she is here!
How Big is Baby?
According to thebump.com,
Baby’s senses are continuing to improve — when light peeks in through your (extremely) stretched belly, those tiny eyelids and irises blink and dilate. And, baby can now recognize and react to simple songs… time to start practicing your lullabies! Growth (at least inside your womb) is starting to slow, and you may notice baby descend into your pelvis at the end of this month.
According to babycenter.com,
This week your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds (heft a pineapple) and has passed the 17-inch mark. He’s rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and his skeleton is hardening. The bones in his skull aren’t fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal. (The pressure on the head during birth is so intense that many babies are born with a conehead-like appearance.) These bones don’t entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as his brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.
According to babiesonline.com,
By now, you have all the amniotic fluid you are going to have and the amount will remain consistent until delivery. Your baby’s brain continues to grow, and increase the size of his head. Your baby continues to develop fat deposits under the skin, which can alter skin color. If you’re having a boy his testicles have moved from their location near the kidneys through the groin to the scrotum. If you are having a girl, her clitoris is relatively prominent. Your baby is approximately 17.5 inches long and weighs a little over four pounds now.
How I’m Feeling Physically
Week 33 was an energy draining week. I was more tired than usual and don’t know if it was from pregnancy or if it was from getting ready for and hosting company. I definitely indulged in my fair share of holiday goodies and I’m sure my lack of vegetables had something to do with it as well.
I’m continuing to get sharp pains in my stomach about every other day and they are getting more frequent. My back has been achy but still not as bad as it was in weeks 20-26.
Workout have been slowed down even more and I get tired super easily while doing cardio. I’m still planning on keeping up with my fitness routine throughout the remainder of my pregnancy but will just adjust it accordingly.
The baby is still pretty active, but I can tell she is running out of room to move a ton. I mostly feel jabs, kicks and punches. I think I determined where her feet are and it is super cute when she drags her foot across my belly.
Week 33 was also the week I started feeling uncomfortable with pregnancy and am looking forward to getting my pre pregnancy body back. Don’t get me wrong, I love being pregnant but since I’m now in the uncomfortable stage it will be nice once she is out. It is hard to me to even sit without being uncomfortable. I find I’m most relaxed laying on my sides, but I can’t go through my day laying on my side so the majority part of my day is spent being uncomfortable. I also feel as large as a house and as big as a whale, which doesn’t help my cause. I feel like my face is constantly bloated.
I also noticed I can’t ate a lot in one sitting or I’ll regret it. My stomach I think is getting squished my baby so I keep having to remind myself to only eat a tiny bit at a time, which was nearly impossible over Christmas. Now that company is gone, I’m looking forward to getting back on track with our routine eating schedule and healthy foods. I’ve also been a little crampy this past week. Almost like period cramps and they come and go rather quickly. I think this is normal, but it is just another thing I’ve noticed developing in week 33.
How I’m Feeling Emotionally
I am getting really eager to finish up all the baby things we still need to do. We have a lot of random little things to buy (diaper and wipes, diaper genie, extra car seat base, swing, vibrating chair and so on) and I’m looking forward to getting it all bought just do I don’t have to think about it anymore. I’m also looking forward to finishing her nursery. We just need to hang curtains and install two book shelves and her room is done. Wahoo, that will be an amazing feeling! Both Keith and I had fun showing his family her nursery. It is still pretty surreal to me that she will be here in a little over a month!
I’m still not ready for birth and labor and have been doing a meditation CD that goes along with Hypnobirthing. I also have been paging through the Hypnobirthing book and can’t wait to start reading it again daily. It helps keep me calm knowing I have all the information fresh in my head.
