Happy Saturday! I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend as much as I am! Last night we watched Kansas beat North Carolina State which made me so happy! I was nervous the whole game and just wanted it to be over with a KU victory! Keith on the other hand placed a huge bet on the game that the other team had to lose by less than 8 points, so while I was cheering on Kansas, I also didn’t want him to lose his bet. Luckily he won his bet and my team won!
Today I’ve already been to the gym, plan on getting a few odds and ends done and then we’re heading over to some friends house this evening. Cameryn is the worst in the evening, so I’m going to try and get her to eat a lot before we go and hope for the best!
This past week I asked you all what you usually buy at Trader Joe’s and suggestions for my shopping trip there. Well, I had a fun time and could have bought twice as much if I wasn’t pushing Cameryn in her stroller so I only grabbed a basket! Sometimes I think shopping with her is a blessing since I can only grab and carry so much while still being able to manage her!
So here are the items I bought…I still have things I want to go back for on my next trip!

- Almond Milk
- Ezekiel Bread
- Cabot 85% Reduced Fat Cheddar Cheese
- Bag of 4 Yellow Onions
- Fig Jam
- Sweet and Spicy Mustard
- Frozen Pineapple
- Cilantro Jalapeno Hummus
- Eggplant Hummus
- Pico de Gallo
- Red Wine Vinegar
- Organic Sauce
- Frozen Onion Rings
- Frozen Hashbrowns
- Frozen Mushroom Ravioli
- 2 Bags of Organic Whole Wheat Pasta
- Breaded Chickenless Nuggets
And the best part of it all, I only spent $52 bucks for all those groceries! What a steal of a deal! I couldn’t believe it! I’m used to paying $3 for almond milk, $5 for jarred tomato sauce $4 for salsa and so on. The prices are unbeatable!
I’ll admit I had never been a fan of Trader Joe’s before and considered myself a Whole Foods girl. When I learned that TJ’s was coming to our town I was excited because there is only one organic grocery store in town and it is expensive. We get about 95% of our groceries there so TJ’s is a welcomed store in my mind. I had only been in two other Trader Joe stores in the past and wasn’t impressed with either of them. But, I was pleasantly surprised going into the new store at how much it has to offer. It is by far way better than the other two Trader Joe stores I’ve been too. I’m now a huge Trader Joe’s fan!
Even more good news, we just found out another organic grocery store is coming to town. I was hoping it was Whole Foods, but it is a store called Natural Grocers. I’ve check out their website and they have amazing deals on produce, for example, 99 cents per pound for organic tomatoes! We normally pay about $2.50 per pound for organic tomatoes so I’m really excited for this next store to open! It is probably good WF’s isn’t coming to town as I think I’d bankrupt Keith and I! Kidding of course….or not!
Speaking of good deals on healthy foods, if you don’t already, check out Costco for organic spinach, organic spring mix, organic apples, organic frozen antioxidant mix (mostly berries), organic olive oil, bunches of bananas, boxes of oranges, bags of grapefruit, pineapples, organic raspberries in the summer and other healthy items. Some things they sell you can’t find for a better deal anywhere else!
On my list for my next Trader Joe’s run? Vegetable egg rolls, black bean tortilla chips, more hummus, organic frozen veggies, fresh pasta and raw almond butter! I can’t wait to get back there. I always tells my husband he is lucky that cooking (and eating) is my favorite hobby as he gets to benefit from all my cooking!
Here are my eats from yesterday:
- Breakfast- Ezekiel English muffin with egg, spinach, tomato and cheese, coffee and homemade grapefruit orange juice
- AM Snack- Flaxseed and chia seed drink
- Lunch- Greek yogurt with almond butter and a drizzle of honey
- PM Snack (post workout)- Sunwarrior vanilla protein (my first time trying it, I just got it in the mail yesterday) + PB2 smoothie bowl
- Dinner- Huge salad with 1 slice of cheese pizza
Yesterday afternoon I headed into the gym for a great workout. I did 20 minutes of intervals, and lifted my back and biceps. For the intervals I ran for one minute and then walked for one minute to recover. I then did 4 exercises for my back, with about 8 reps and 4 sets of each. I finished up with 3 bicep exercises with 8 reps and 4 sets.
