Firehouse and Morning Meditation

6 Oct

Yesterday afternoon after bumming around town, we headed over to a great happy hour restaurant called Firehouse Kitchen.  We sat back, had 2 glasses of wine (yes 2- I know I was bad), and shared a couple of appetizers.

I didn’t like this one so we smiled for another!  : )

They have $3 good glasses of wine!

We also got calamari, the best ever!  They serve it with three different sauces, cocktail, Asian ginger and a tartar.

We also had breaded mushrooms and zucchini.

We then headed back to our home to watch the new storm that was rolling in.  The wind blew over our lounge chair cushions!

For dinner we made apple gorgonzola salad….yes again!  We just can’t get enough of that stuff!  We also made salmon on the grill on cedar planks!  The Husband did an amazing job.  We used the following spice recipe as a dry rub on the salmon.  It was fantastic.

Cajun Spice Mix

  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional- we didn’t add them)

Dinner was very tasty.  We ate later then usual because of our happy hour at Firehouse Kitchen.

This morning at the gym I ran 20 minutes of intervals and lifted my legs and shoulders.  I am hoping I wont be sore for 5 days again, like I was last week.  If you are curious of the exercises I did, click here.  Here is my HR monitor report of my workout:

  • Time- 1:01:54
  • Calories- 528 (30% fat)
  • Max Heart Rate- 196bpm (102% max)
  • Average Heart Rate- 160 (83% max)

What are you favorite leg and shoulder exercises to do?

Now onto Morning Meditation!

Motivation for the day:  I want to be as healthy as I can today since I drank a little bit more wine yesterday then I planned on.

Three things I am thankful for today:  1.  Short day at work  2.  My Husband 3.  Cooler weather!  : )

Goal for the day:  Smile at strangers I see out and about!  I hear smiling at someone is contagious!  Everyone needs a little more cheer in their day.

Motivational Quote of the day:  “Health is the First Wealth!” –Unknown

What are three things your thankful for today?

I hope everyone has a great Wednesday morning!  I am on to making PB toast for breakfast!
