House Cleaning Starts

7 Oct

So, I had a really busy day at work today and only had time to grab a handful of walnuts as a snack.  Early afternoon I was able to get out of there and head home.  I met the Husband at home and we both were starving for lunch.  We decided to have some of the left over wraps from yesterday to tide us over until we make salad for dinner.

I had two mini cut wraps-  they had romaine lettuce, turkey, tomato and Swiss cheese.

After lunch we decided to get a good start on our weekend house cleaning chores.  The Husband washed windows, dusted and helped me move furniture and I cleaned the kitchen, vacuumed and got all the laundry divided up into loads and started washing.  While I was cleaning it got me thinking about all the household cleaning products people use.  The Hus and I typically like to use more natural and organic cleaning agents, so our house wont be filled with pesticides and other harmful chemicals our bodies don’t need.  Here are some of the natural products I swear by:

Caldera Countertop Cleaner- I love this stuff and it comes in many different scents depending on the time of year

You can even buy refills for the spray bottle so you are not wasting plastic

Seventh Generation Natural Dish Liquid- I like to use this to fill in our kitchen sink scrubber and it smells so good

Kirkland  (Costco Brand) Environmentally Friendly Liquid Dish Soap- I haven’t used this yet but thought I would start using it in the dish washer

Seventh Generation Natural All Purpose Cleaner- I use this stuff everywhere.  From the bathroom to the kitchen.  This stuff rocks!

Seventh Generation Natural Glass and Surface Cleaner- I like using this in the bathrooms and on all glass and mirrors.

Seventh Generation Laundry Detergent- I typically by the environmentally friendly laundry detergent at Costco but bought this when I needed detergent and didn’t want to go all the way to Costco.  So far I really like it.   The only drawback on this is the price.  The bottle also says 66 loads and I have done about 10-15 and the bottle is over half way gone.

My last green cleaning items I like to use are baking soda, lemons, vinegar and bleach.  I like making my own solutions like this one below which is a mixture of water and vinegar.  I like cleaning the kitchen sink with this mixture and then use a cut lemon to polish off the sink.  Once I am done with the lemon, I put it down the garbage disposal and it makes the sink smell lovely for days!

These bottles are awesome.  They are great for mixing your own cleaning solutions.

We do have a bunch of other cleaning products that I try not to use often (Lysol Spray) and only pull them out on occasion.  I would love to throw them all away and only use the green natural products but I just can’t get myself to waste them.

What are some of your favorite green cleaning products and tips?  Do you mix any of your own cleaning solutions?

One Day Closer to the Weekend

Workout Summary

Good morning loves!  I hope everyone had a good night!  The Husband and I got up early and headed into the gym.  I did an easy 45 minutes on the arc trainer and a few minutes of core work while waiting for the Husband to finish up his workout.  Here are my stats from the am workout:

  • Time:  00:47:18
  • Calories:  450 (25% fat)
  • Max Heart Rate:  184 (95% max)
  • Average Heart Rate:  171 (89% max)

Overall it was a good workout.  I love running workouts so much more though.  I had to stick with the arc trainer since my hip started hurting after my running intervals yesterday.

One Month Countdown Until Mexico!

There is exactly one month before we leave for our honeymoon to Mexico!  I thought I’d post this picture from a prior Mexican vacation in honor of the one month countdown!

Now onto Morning Meditation

I started doing morning meditation only a few days ago on my blog because I think it is important to have intentions for each day.  I also believe writing down things I am thankful for and want to accomplish for the day makes me a happier person overall!  : )

Motivation for the day:  Be as productive at work today as I can be.  I have a lot to get done in a short period of time.

Three things I am thankful for today:  1.  My awesome clients who always come to their workouts ready to kick butt!  2.  Coffee (its tasting especially good for some reason today)  3.  My beautiful niece, who I just love and adore!

My Niece and I

Goal for the day:  *Revised*  Get a good start on house cleaning!

Motivational Quote of the day:  “Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson  (This is one of my all time favorite quotes)

Weekend Plans and Breakfast

I am so happy its Thursday today.  I can’t wait for the weekend to be here!  I have so much fall cleaning I want to get done.  My major task will be cleaning out my closet and getting rid of all my old clothes I think I might wear at some point, but haven’t worn for years!  Cleaning out the closet is a big task, but I always feel renewed when its over!  I also can’t wait to get into the kitchen and bake some fall goodies!  I want to make some pumpkin bread, apple crisp and maybe some roasted vegetable soup!  I can’t wait to post the recipes and share with you how they turned out!

Breakfast:  Peanut Butter Toast & 1 cup of black coffee.  Also, flax, chia and cranberry concoction.

Do you have any tips for cleaning out a closet?

How do you like to organize your closet?

What are your favorite fall goodies?
