New Years Eve is just around the corner…do you know what you are going to wear? I have only one rule for NYE, the more sequins and accessories the better. As someone famous (I can’t remember who and am too lazy to look it up) said, “I rather be looked over then overlooked.” If you read my Christmas Fashion post, you probably know that I like simple clothes paired with rocking accessories, but as I mentioned above, with NYE there really are no rules, so have fun and get creative! Go wild!
Before I show you what I found in stores, lets take a trip and travel into the depths of my closet and remember past NYE outfits.
NYE 2008- dark sequins need lots of gold to balance them out! Gold shoes, clutch earrings and a big bold black and gold cocktail ring to finish off the look. Perfecto!
NYE 2009- Lots of gold needs a punch of color- Red shoes with a turquoise, gold and red bracelet to tie the look together. So. Much. Fun!
NYE 2010- Tight black dress with bold bracelets. I would pair this looks with leopard heels. One word: HOT!
Paired with this shoe I found at Neiman Marcus:
Okay okay, I admit I didn’t wear those exact outfits the past three NYEs, but if I could go back in time, I just might! I wanted to create looks using my old clothes to give you guys ideas on what you can pull together from your own closets. All three dresses just happen to be from ArdenB. I don’t shop there that often, but do find they have cute and reasonably priced party dresses you don’t have to feel bad wearing only once. I would recommend not spending a fortune on NYE clothes since you probably wont wear them often. I mean how often do you need to wear sequin dresses during the rest of the year? Probably not many. Save your money for pieces that will last you many many years.
Since the dresses above were from ArdenB, I thought it would be fitting to find a look from them. Check out this silver sequined mini dress. This is definitely NYE worthy and it’s on sale for just around $70. Pair this baby with black pumps, costume earrings and a clutch, you know you’ll be looking great! I would probably suggest wearing your hair up as well to show off the neck!
If you dare, check out this dress I found at the same store! Plus it is only around 50 bucks! What a deal! Because the dress has black, silver and gold in it, you could have tons of fun picking out shoes and jewelry to go with it!
If your on a tight budget, check out this deal I found at Forever 21. This dress is only $15.50! Yes that’s right, just under 16 bucks! I’m not sure the quality of the material and dress, but for 16 dollars who care! This dress also comes in black and blue, but I think the silver looks more expensive that the others.
While searching the website above, I also came across this dress. It has a full length sleeve for those of you who need something warmer this NYE!
If you have the means, I found this great dress at Saks. Plus it has sleeves so it’s warmer in winter. But remember what I said, if you’re not going to be wearing sequins for the next 5-10 years, I would probably skip on a purchase like this and buy one of the less expensive options.
If you bought the Forever21 dress above this one you could save yourself around 680 bucks!
Here is another dress I found at Saks. It is freaking amazing! I love it so much, but don’t love the price. I love this whole look including those Jimmy Choo shoes! I think she looks perfect, although I would add just a few gold bangles to complete the look!
One last option is also from Saks and I think I’m in love with it! This dress is so awesome! I love all the gold tones! I wouldn’t wear it with the black shoes shown, I would wear a pair of gold shoes instead with big bold costume earrings. I would also wear my hair up to put the focus on this beautiful dress!
So I just showed you seven looks ranging in price form $16 to $700. Which look is your favorite? Are you planning on dressing up for New Years?
One last thing, when shopping for costume jewelry don’t forget to check out stores like Target and World Market. They both have fun bold jewelry for a small price! Both you and your checking account will be happy!
Here are some fun cocktail ring ideas!
