So we made the best homemade pizza ever tonight. The crust was light and airy and baked perfectly, the cheese was gooey and good, the red onions added the best flavor the this pizza and the flank steak was perfectly cooked and sliced thinly to my liking. We made a Blank and Bleu Pizza. YUM!
If you had been reading this blog for a while, you probably remember the epic failure the last time we made homemade pizza. It turned out terribly and both the husband and I put so much effort into making the crust and felt really disappointed with the results.
This time was different though. I used my new KitchenAid Mixer to make the crust and I kid you not, the dough was ready in less that 5 minutes (after I let the yeast sit in the warm water for 15 minutes). It was so easy and didn’t make any messes. I highly suggest this recipe for pizza dough if you have one. It seriously rocks!
Crusty Pizza Dough
(adapted from the KitchenAid Mixer Recipe Collection)
Ingredients
-
1 Packet Yeast
-
1 teaspoon salt
-
1 teaspoon garlic powder
-
1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
-
1 teaspoon Crushed Hot Peppers
-
3 teaspoons Olive Oil
-
1 cup warm water
-
2 1/2 to 3 1/2 cups of flour
-
Cornmeal
In your KitchenAid mixer bowl, dissolve the yeast in the cup of warm water. Add in the salt, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, crushed hot peppers, olive oil and 2 1/2 cups of flour. Mix using the dough hook for one minute of setting 2. Add in the rest of the flour and mix for another 2 minutes on setting 2 until the dough is stuck on the dough hook and fully mixed. You can mix the dough for more than two minutes if you want.
Place the dough in a greased bowl and make sure to coat the dough on all sides as well. Place a towel over the bowl and let the dough sit for one hour or until it has doubled in size (I like sticking it in the oven).
Grease the bottom of a pizza pan and lightly sprinkle on cornmeal. Once the dough has doubled in size, punch it down and begin making your crust. Bake pizza at 450 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
Easy and Great! : )

Yum!! I love homemade pizza. I actually made homemade pizzas last night and they were AMAZING! Friday night is pizza night at our house. I can’t wait to see your pizza creations. Hope you had a great night!
That pizza looks so good! I am drooling. I am such a boring pizza eater. I love plain cheese pizza – I never grew out of my 5 year old self!
looks great! i love bbq & chicken:)
This looks so good! I usually love peppers and goat cheese on my pizza! 🙂
I’ve bookmarked this recipe. I hope I get to make it soon!
Oh yay! Let me know if you like it! Like I mentioned in my latest pizza post, if you want a thinner crust, you may just want to use 1/2 the dough!
