Hey guys, I’ve had this post almost done for a while now and just wanted to finish it so I could add it as my final journal entry for this pregnancy (since I had Cameryn at exactly 37 weeks).
This post is written from both view points of before the baby arrived and after she was here.
How Big is Baby?
According to BabyCenter.com,
Your baby is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. She now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. She’s shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of her first bowel movement.
According to BabiesOnline.com,
Your baby continues to put on weight by about 1/2 pound each week. It’s no wonder the womb is becoming very cramped. Your baby is gaining weight quickly because layers of fat pile on and help in both body temperature regulation and developing his immunity in preparation for life in the outside world. You may find you are carrying your baby much lower now (or soon will be) as the baby drops into the birth canal, readying himself for birth. Your baby is about 19 inches long and weighs from 5.5 to 6.0 pounds. The vast majority of babies born now will live with little need for intensive medical treatment.
How I’m Feeling Physically
This week I am feeling really great. I really really want to go workout, or just move my body a little bit. I did do a couple of quick elliptical sessions at home for only two songs on Pandora before getting off. I also took the dog on two quick walks around the block that only took about 10 minutes each.
On Sunday night, I woke up to go to the bathroom and my water broke. I didn’t know it at the time, and thought the baby was just on my bladder. As I was walking to the bathroom, I felt trickling down my leg. There wasn’t a lot of water at all, but enough where I did have to wipe it off the floor. I went back to bed and didn’t think too much of it.
On Tuesday night, I went into labor. I went to bed and didn’t have any suspicions that labor was going to start. I was sleeping probably around 9:15pm and around 11pm, I woke up to once again go to the bathroom. When I got back in bed, I felt cramps and once again didn’t think too much of it. After about 10 minutes, I knew something just wasn’t quite right. I woke Keith up and we both agreed it was contractions.
When I got to the hospital they asked when my water broke and I had no idea it even broke. The only incident I could think of was on Sunday night. I think my waters broke and I went into labor about 48 hours afterwards.
What a week!
How I’m Feeling Emotionally
This is a hard week since I am so ready for the baby yet want her to stay in and cook as long as she can. When the doctor gives you a 70% chance on having a baby within a week, it kind of messes with you head. I was really antsy on both Monday and Tuesday. At this point, I am just waiting day by day for any sign she will be here.
I also finished up all errands and am totally 100% ready for the baby whenever she decides to come. I ran once last time to Target and spent way to much when I was only planning on buying a few items. I also stocked up her closet and drawers on newborn size clothing since we virtually had four things for her. Knowing more than likely she is going to be here any day, she will probably be little and wont fit into 0-3 month clothing.
