House Update and Meal Planning

27 Sep

Hi there!

How have you guys been?

I’ve been super busy over here.

The house under taking is going slowly and taking over our lives…

But, the total gut job is almost done.  A few neighbors stopped by and commented about how we were totally redoing the house.  They didn’t realize how much we were changing.

So far, we got new carpeting and a new carpet pad installed (yesterday), have half of the new tile laid (after having to take out the old stuff), installed three new ceiling fans, painted the entire house, ordered and received new kitchen appliances, bought a new sink and faucet (I never knew how expensive they are), are about half way done turning the cherry cabinets to new white ones and have a custom built in for the cut out in the kitchen being made and also book shelves for the extra space on the kitchen island are on custom order.

Oh and did I mention we picked out tile for the fireplace yesterday.  It is white stone and will look great!  I can’t wait.  We want to take the stone from the floor to the ceiling and get a custom dark wood mantle for it installed as well.  We need to move on the fireplace fast so I can hang a little someone’s Christmas stocking!  Smile

A picture of the stone we picked out

Here are a few sneak peak pictures of the progress so far!  I can’t share too many with you guys, I want to wait until I can do a complete before and after!  Smile

(This is a before pic)

Close up of the flooring we’re putting in (although it’s dirty)

Cabinets were cherry and they are in the process of transforming into white!

As you can see, we have a ways to go in this next week.  We hope to move in next Friday!  I have a feeling this week is going to be crazy and fly by!

My eats have remained healthy during this whole process, but my workouts not so much.  I’ve only been getting in a couple per week and I can really tell a difference in how I feel.  I can’t wait to start getting more workouts in but it realistically wont happen until we’re moved.  The good news is, being so  busy I’m moving much more during the day then I normally do so at least I’m not just sitting around on my butt!

Late yesterday my father in law arrived back to Arizona (he and my mother in law were here two weeks a go for a week).  He is here to help Keith finish tiling the house.  With the guys working hard all day, they are starving by the end of the day.  So, I planned out some meals that are mostly healthy and definitely hearty to fill them up and prepare them for more house work in the morning!

Meal Plan (Wednesday-Monday)

  • Wednesday (last night)- Shredded chicken tacos with salsa, cheese and avocado
  • Thursday- Spaghetti with homemade vegetable meat tomato sauce, garlic bread and salad
  • Friday-  Salmon with brown rice, sautéed spinach and asparagus
  • Saturday-  Flank Steak Fajitas with red and green bell pepper, onion and mushrooms
  • Sunday-  Ribs with red potatoes and salad
  • Monday- Leftover flank steak and ribs with salad or grilled chicken breast if there aren’t any leftover Winking smile

I’m really trying to get back to my daily blogging as I love sharing my eats, workouts and daily musings with you guys!  I miss blogging and miss my readers!

Question of the Day:  How do you stay healthy during overly busy times?

Cameryn Olivia: Month Eight

26 Sep

My little girl turned eight months last week.  Before I know it another month will be gone, so before I forget all the changes that are happening now, let me write them down.

Cameryn has become so mobile.  It is crazy.  She not only stands, crawls and rolls, but now she is pulling herself up and climbing on everything.  She loves trying to get upright and she’ll do whatever she needs to do to get there.  There is nothing that gets in her way when she crawls, as she’ll just find a way to get over it!  This makes my job especially hard since I don’t want her falling and hitting her head.  I basically just follow her around all day long.

She is also ‘talking’ up a storm.  She loves saying, a, ba, da, ma, na, hi,ha and her most recent is the p’s for pa!  It is so cute hearing her say dada and mama.  I don’t think she knows that she is saying them but it is cute nonetheless.  Her favorite thing to say is ‘anana’.  She says that ‘word’ the most!  Smile

Cameryn has also learned a little about cause and effect and she loves looking at Keith, Quincy or myself and yelling loudly.  She then waits for whoever she is yelling at to look at her.  If you don’t she keeps doing it until you finally look at her and then erupts in giggles and smiles!

Cameryn really is such a sweet little girl and loves nothing more than to be snuggled with her dad and mom…but, she definitely knows what she wants and nothing will keep her from getting it.  If she starts crying for something, I usually just do what she wants since she is still so little, but I think she knows that if she cries mama will give in and do whatever she wants.

Cameryn has grown to LOVE Quincy.  We really couldn’t have asked for a better dog to be around a baby.  He is so careful around her and knows she is off limits and that he needs to be extra gentle around her.  Most times he doesn’t even like to look at her, but every so often I catch him trying to sneak her kisses.

Cameryn is starting to experience separation anxiety.  She doesn’t like being around anyone unless I’m right there with her.  I started realizing when I would leave her in the swing and go into the kitchen (we have an open floor plan so they are basically the same room) she would cry, when she never have done that before.  A few days later I got an email baby update, saying babies at this age start showing signs of separation anxiety.

The cutest and best thing Cameryn has started doing is giving kisses!  She will even make a little kiss noise.  This melts my heart!  I can’t tell you how much I love getting her little kisses!  It is so sweet and she gets so excited when she does it.  My cheeks are usually pretty wet after a kiss or two but she is trying!  Smile

Solid foods have been going okay.  Cameryn somewhere decided she didn’t like anything on her baby spoons (she just likes playing with them) and getting her to even try anything off them is a real feat.  If she by chance decides to try out the food on the spoon, I cheer for her for literally 5 minutes!  She did eat some homemade cinnamon apple sauce off my adult spoon the other day, so I was really happy with that.  She continues to love her puffs the most.  In addition to her puffs, she likes peas, small bits of avocado, green beans, steamed carrots, steamed apples.  Anything that is super soft and cut into super small pieces she loves.  She still doesn’t have any teeth, so I’m a little hesitant to give her a lot of different solids.  I did spend four hours in the kitchen on Friday making her a bunch of delicious homemade baby food.  I make carrots, garlic broccoli, cinnamon applesauce and pears.  Everything is pureed.  I’m hoping at some point she decides to eat from a spoon again…

Dislikes:  Diaper changes- it is so hard to change a squirmy eight month old, going anywhere in her car seat unless it’s for a walk outside, not getting her way, pureed foods, taking naps, getting dressed being even a foot away from mom, her big girl crib in her room and the smaller one in our room, sleeping by herself, sitting still to get her picture taken, headbands

Likes:  Moving around, being held, sleeping next to Mom, avocados, peas, Quincy, playing with toys, looking into mirrors, taking baths, watching Baby Einstein movies, finger painting, coloring, playing on the iPad, smiling and laughing, when Daddy gets home from work, waking Mommy up in the morning

Cameryn weighs in just under 17lbs!  I’m not sure of her height but she was 26 inches back in July so I’m thinking maybe she is around 28-29, although that is just a guess!  She is in all 9 month clothing, although some of it is still a bit big.

*Note, I’m not a mean mom, she cried for about 5 seconds when I took these. She looked so cute in the hat I grabbed the camera and when I was ready to take the picture she started crying! She was fine 5 seconds later and back to her smiles!  Smile

Every stage so far has been my very favorite!  I keep saying this is my favorite month and then the next month I say it again!  I am loving eight months as  Cameryn can now interact and it is so much fun!  My only wish is that the days would slow down just a bit!
