Intervals and Strength Workout

Good morning!  I just got home from the gym and had an amazing workout. Tuesday and Thursday’s I train clients for an hour in the gym, so I always leave early so I can fit in my own workout before I train them. 

I started my workout with treadmill intervals and they looked like this:

  • Minute 0-1,   Speed 4.0
  • Minute 1-2,    Speed 8.0
  • Minute 2-3,   Speed 4.0
  • Minute 3-4,   Speed 8.0 / 9.0  *30 second of each
  • Minute 4-5,   Speed 4.0
  • Minute 5-6,   Speed 7.0 & Incline 6
  • Repeat 3 times
  • Minute 19-20,   Speed 8.2
  • Minute 20-21,   Speed 4.0

After my intervals I did the following strength routine:

Circuit 1 x3

  • Chest press
  • Pec fly
  • Heavy Squats

Circuit 2  x3

  • Close grip triceps pull downs with a straight bar on the cables
  • Wide grip triceps pull downs with a rope attachment on the cables
  • Hanging ab raises
  • Deadlifts

I finished up my workout with 10 minutes on the stair climber and 10 minutes on the treadmill.

*One of my clients cancelled and I wasn’t sure if the other was going to come today or not so I just an extra 20 minutes of cardio while waiting.  Both didn’t show so I ended up heading home to relieve Keith of Daddy daycare duty!  Smile


On the agenda for today, not a whole lot.  It is going to be a quiet Tuesday around here.  I need to run to Lowes and buy on more drawer handle.  When we bought our house the kitchen cabinets didn’t have any hardware on them so we bought new hardware but ended up short one drawer handle.

Other than that I think I might start planning my February workouts, try and get in some yoga this afternoon if Cameryn is up for it, walk the dog if it warms up a bit and I want to start looking for healthy recipes for Super Bowl Sunday!  I’m a big Raven’s fan (my other favorite team outside of the Vikings and Packers) so I’m excited for the Super Bowl this year.  I’m also married to one of the biggest football fans ever so we normally go all out for big sporting events!  I want to keep our eats healthy but tasty too.  I’ve pinned some good looking recipes like buffalo cauliflower so I’m excited to see what I come up with!



Here are my eats so far today:

  • Preworkout: 1/3 banana berry smoothie
  • Post workout: 2/3 banana berry smoothie
  • AM Snack:  Clif Mojo bar, shared this with Cameryn
  • Lunch:  Sweet potato with peanut butter <—haven’t had this yet but it’s what I’m planning on! Smile


With that the baby is crying so I need to run!

A Rainy Weekend in Scottsdale

This past weekend we went to Scottsdale in hopes of bringing Cameryn to the Phoenix zoo.  She loves animals, going over her animal flashcards, looking at animals on my ipad and also seeing other dogs while we are out walking Quincy.  I figured she would love the zoo and is at an age although she wont remember she would have a great time!  She is also really fond of elephants and can say the word elephant pretty close if you ask her too. 

So, we booked a room at the Kierland Westin and off we went.  Phoenix had been in the mid 80s and sunny, so naturally when we booked, the weather forecast changed to mid 60s and heavy rain.  Go figure!

Instead of cancelling out mini getaway we went anyway.  It was cold.  It was rainy.  And, we didn’t make it to the zoo.  I’m thinking after company leaves in March, that will be a good time to sneak down there once again in hopes of bringing Cameryn to the zoo!


We did however have a blast and we shopped our little hearts out.  Cameryn got two new pairs of shoes since she is now up and walking.  Her only other pair of shoes are the Ugg boots we got her back in December.  So, it was time to invest in a couple more pairs.  I got here these Stride Rite and also these adorable Toms!  They have a cute pair of leopard Toms online at Nordstrom’s I want to get her as well!  They are just too cute!  I let Cameryn pick out what Tom’s to get and she wanted the bright pink ones!  That’s my girl!Smile

Keith shopped for clothes and I got some new makeup.  I wanted to get all new vegan makeup, but the guy at Sephora talked me into trying Dior.  He said it has no sulfates, parabens or phthalates.  But when I got home I tried looking it up and couldn’t find out if he was telling the truth or not so I need to keep looking.  I got the powder and foundation.  I was given two free samples of the BB cream and want to order that too if it doesn’t have any of the above mentioned chemicals in it.  I’m in love with it!  I love how light it is and it makes my skin look so nice!

I also grabbed two nail polishes.  This is a great vegan polish.  I got it in bright red (Hunk of Burning Love) for my toes and also in nude (In the Buff for my finger nails).

We did are fair share of eating out while we were there.  We stopped by True Food Kitchen for lunch and I had the shaved turkey pita with kale salad.  It was so delicious!  Keith had the bison burger and said it was amazing.  I also love that they have healthy options for toddlers.  I got Cameryn veggie sticks.  It was all sorts of vegetables and came with hummus and ranch dip. 


We also tried Ra Sushi.  It was so good.  W usually go to Roka Akor when we are in Scottsdale, but decided to try Ra Sushi as it was closer to where we were staying.  We ordered four rolls and avocado for Cam, but ended up getting everything to go as the kiddo didn’t feel like sitting through a meal!  I think she was just sick of sitting and wanted to roam free.  Once back to the hotel room she had a ball running around like crazy for a couple hours!

We also hit up Yard House in Fashion Square for a quick appetizer (guacamole and chips) and a mojito!  Keith wanted a beer to make shopping at Crate and Barrel more fun!  Ha!  I love that store and stocked up on some of my favorite items there!


My other favorite thing we did while in Scottsdale was hit up Whole Foods!  We stopped in for just five minutes when we first got to town to grab some wine.  I am in love with that store and wish we had one in Prescott.  On our way out of Scottsdale, we stopped by again so I could grocery shop and also get a turkey avocado sandwich to go.  It was amazing.  Since we don’t frequent Whole Foods that often, Keith and I both thought it was going to be overly priced.  Well, the joke was on us as we thought it was really reasonably priced and there were so many good deals!  It just goes to show how much we are over paying for good organic food in Prescott.  I try and grocery shop at a few stores (Costco, Trader Joes, New Frontiers and Natural Grocers) and do the bulk at New Frontiers.

That about sums up our trip, food and shopping!  Smile


Today has been a busy day trying to play catch up from being gone over the weekend.  I got in 45 minutes  of cardio + two Tone It Up videos (abs and butt) on YouTube for a total of an hour this morning.  I think I burned right around 500 calories.  

Here are my eats so far:

  • Breakfast:  Banana berry smoothie
  • Am Snack:  Kind Bar
  • Lunch:  Sweet potato with a tablespoon of peanut butter (first time doing this and it was so easy and tasty!  I wish I knew to make these right after Cameryn was born)!
  • Dinner:  Mexican salad with crockpot chicken <—Haven’t had this yet, but it’s what’s for dinner!

We are trying to keep our dinner eats easy this week so lots of crockpot chicken salads, tacos and probably some roasted vegetables at the end of the week.

This morning after my workout I ran to Costco and Trader Joe’s.  I love Costco’s organic chicken breast and organic berry mixture.  I also picked up a bunch of other random items at Trader Joe’s for the week.  The rest of the day is going to be spent doing laundry, trying to get the baby down for a nap, making kale chips and picking up the house a bit!

It is crazy how being gone over the weekend got me all out of schedule and feeling very unorganized.

I’ve got to go keep up with this little nonstop moving machine and somehow figure out how to get her down for her afternoon nap!
