Monday Smoothie Recipe

18 Mar

Hey guys!  How was your weekend?  Mine was great!  We’ve been having the most beautiful weather in Arizona lately and it has been lovely!

Today has been a pretty great day as well.  Not too much going on in the home front but I was able to get some errands ran this morning, a work out in and four loads on laundry done already!  For us stay at home Moms, you know that is a great day and usually more than I get done in a few days!

Keith just got home from work so I decided to take a break from my day and finally post a blog post, it has been way too long.

Other than just day to day life, we had company for a month between my mom and Keith’s mom.  Cameryn had such a great time with her Grandmas!

The other fun and exciting thing going on in my life is something I can’t wait to share with you guys.  But, I just cant share it with you yet!  And no, I’m not pregnant!  I have been working hard for the past month and think in about one more month, I can let the hat out of the bag!  I’m really excited about it and think you guys will be too!  Smile

Workouts have been going good.  I’m still trying to get in five a week and also get at least three yoga sessions in.

Here is my planned workout schedule for this week:

  • Monday-  45 Minutes of Cardio at home and yoga
  • Tuesday-  20 minutes of intervals + strength and yoga
  • Wednesday- Off day (we have someone coming over to the house in the morning to fix out garage so I’m not sure if I will be able to get my cardio in)
  • Thursday- 20 minutes intervals + strength and yoga
  • Friday- 45 minutes of cardio + core
  • Saturday- 45 minutes of cardio at the gym
  • Sunday- Off day

Recently as I’ve been running faster with both steady state and especially interval run, I’ve noticed my hips have started hurting.  This isn’t new to me as they used to hurt a lot when I was running more before I had Cameryn.  But since I hadn’t been doing a lot of running I haven’t had the pain for a while.  It is an all day thing.  It even hurts when I’m trying to sleep at night which is no fun to be in pain while resting.  One of my clients (I only train one small group now since becoming a mama) gave me a gift certificate for a massage so I think I’m going to use it on Wednesday and get my hip worked on.  I think it is the combination of tight fascia and a tight IT band.  I guess it’s time to break out the good old foam roller again.  I’m really having a fun time running and running a lot faster than I used too, so I hope I can work this little problem out.

As far as yoga goes, Cameryn loves it.  I’m not even joking.  She loves when we practice together so I’m trying to work my way up to doing a little bit each day.  I pull out two yoga mats and she tries to copy what I’m doing.  Her favorite move is the downward dog, but that got too easy for her so now she likes to life her legs while doing it!  Smile

While we were having the month of moms, my eating habits definitely weren’t great.  Not bad, but not what I’m used to eating on a weekly basis.  Why is it that it is so hard to stick with routine when company is in town?  I also had more cocktails (mojitos and wine) during the week.  I usually try to only drink over the weekend, but with the moms in town, we were having wine every night and I was also indulging in mojitos at the clubhouse every time we went, which was often.

With swimsuit season only about a month away, I’m back into drinking lots of water and tea and also eating lots of fruits and vegetables again!

Speaking of what I’ve been eating, I have been loving this smoothie lately and wanted to share it with all of you.  I’ve become addicted to these little açaí packets and have been using them in smoothies.  Paired with bananas it is so good!

Açaí Banana Berry Smoothie

Serves 1

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 açaí smoothie packet
  • 1 1/2 bananas (mine were small I used)
  • 1/2 cup mixed berries
  • 1 scoop protein powder ( I use Sun Warrior Brown Rice Vanilla)

In a blender add the ingredients and blend until smooth.  Serve and enjoy!

I make mine thick so I eat mine from a bowl!

Easy as that!  Here is what I mean when I say an açaí smoothie packet.  You can use them in the frozen fruit section at the grocery store.

Here are my favorite organic mixed berries, you can find them for about 10 bucks at Costco!  Such a great deal!

And a cute Cameryn pic from the day!  My little ham!  For lunch, she had fresh peeled pear, quesadilla with flank steak, sautéed onions, mushrooms, red bell peppers and cheese, sweet potato and a small handful of Pirates Booty!  She doesn’t eat a lot of meat at all so I try and sneak it in here and there when I can.  But she is a smarty and usually picks it out!

Well that’s it for me today!

I need to get rested up for tonight.  We start night weaning Cameryn tonight and I’m both excited and nervous at how it will go.  Since she turned 14 months today I figured it is about time.  I’m ready to start sleeping again!  We are going to use the Gordon method and I’m hoping that in one week she’ll be sleeping better at night and not waking me up literally 10+ times a night to nurse.  I’ll keep you all updated on how the night weaning is going.  Fingers crossed!

Good luck with the night weaning, that was the toughest feeding time(s) to drop with my youngest!

Aww! I’m SO glad things are going well with you girl! (I gave up pinterest & instagram for Lent and now feel totally disconnected to you! Easter can’t get here soon enough!!)

So I immediately thought the “cat outta the bag” thing was that your preggers…lol Can’t wait to find out what it is! 😀

I WISH our weather was nice, it’s been a crazy mixture of rain, snow, and bitter coldness all week. 😦 I’m SO READY for Spring! 🙂

That’s awesome that Cameryn eats such a great variety of foods! A has been a Mr. Picky Pants lately with just about everything, I swear teething is going to drive me nuts. He eats less and nurses WAY more every single time he’s teething. Have you started milk btw? I tried with A, (cow’s milk in a straw cup) and he hates it.

14 months already?!? They’re gonna be a 2 before we know it! :-/ geez!!
She’s looking more and more adorable! Daddy & Mommy better watch out, the boys are gonna be chasing after her! 😉

Question about Sunwarrior protein, do you love it?? I’ve heard so much about it but have yet to try it. Is plant based protein better than whey?

& Yay on night weaning! Keep me posted on the method you chose, A is still sleeping in his crib only part of the night. I’m ok with it until it’s 4 am and he wants to nurse on demand every 30 mins…I’ve completely forgotten what a full 8 hrs of sleep feels like! lol

I’ve been wondering where you have been on instagram! Good thing Easter is almost here!
I haven’t tried C on any milk except almond milk (last night actually) and she did drink just a few sips. I give her just plain water in her straw sippy cup. The Dr. said this was fine and that kids don’t even need milk if you are providing them with a healthy diet. She still relies mostly on nursing though.
C has also become really picky lately about what she will eat. I swear I give her like 10 different foods at every meal just to get her to eat something. But according to her diapers, I don’t think I need to be worrying about this! 🙂
You are so lucky A is sleeping in his crib! I don’t know how we will get C in there. She is just so stubborn! I’ll be wrting daily updates on the night weaning and I’m hoping it goes better than this past night. It was really rough. Poor little C!
Oh and I can’t wait to share my exciting news! Not pregnant! One of the reasons I’m night weaning C is so I can get my cycle back and become pregnant again! 🙂
