Week Update & Other Randomness

20 Nov

Happy Hump Day!  The countdown is on until next Wednesday when we find out if baby Conrad is a boy or girl!  Yay!  I’m still leaning towards a boy…

I can’t wait to hit up some Black Friday sales and start shopping for Baby C!  I had to ask specifically that my ultrasound be before Thanksgiving and the Doctor okayed it!  Winking smile  I’m always thinking ahead!  Speaking of Black Friday the one item I know I will be stocking up on is camera memory cards at Best Buy.  They are always so cheap and I buy a ton that will last me all year since I’m obsessed with taking pics of my mini and soon to be two minis!

I’ve had a couple emails and an Instagram request I start posting my meals again.  I may or may not do this.  What I’m thinking is not posting every day’s meals but just when I can.

What I can tell you right now is that I’ve had salad for dinner for three nights straight!  This is major for me since a lot of vegetables and salads did not sound appealing during the first trimester.  What I’m loving is fresh romaine with walnuts, English cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, feta and grilled chicken breasts.  I top it off with a little balsamic dressing and it is so good.  It has been exactly what I’ve been craving.

I’m not sure how much longer the salad kick will last in a row because I’m starting to crave mushroom pasta from our favorite local Italian place but I’m just going with it for now.  I’m actually thinking about buying mason jars and pre making salads for lunch in the next few weeks. I love the idea of making five healthy lunches with quinoa and other vegetables to keep my lunches healthy.  Right now they are all over the place.  Dried mango one day, a Kind Bar the next, then a smoothie.  I’m snacking a lot so I’m not super hungry for all meals.  I’m just eating when I’m hungry.  In fact I skipped lunch yesterday and this is what my day looked like:

  • Pre workout breakfast:  Hot lemon water, toast with jelly and PB
  • After workout breakfast:  apple
  • AM Snack:  Kind Bar and string cheese (around 11:30am)
  • Lunch:
  • PM Snack:  tortilla chips (I know not the best choice but the salt was so good on the chips!)
  • Dinner:  Salad and dark chocolate for dessert Smile
  • After dinner:  Hot lemon water

My eating is still a bit random but I’m working on getting it to a healthy place I feel great about!  I’ve also been eating a lot of smoothies.  Tropical is my current obsession.  I’ve been using orange juice or a fresh orange, coconut water, vanilla protein powder, one frozen banana and  Trader Joe’s tropical frozen fruit mix.  It makes enough for two and Cameryn and I often have this for breakfast or lunch!  I’ve also slowly been getting back to eating eggs.  Some days I can stomach then and others I can’t.  I fine not eating them but I love how full I get when I make a breakfast sandwich with them.

Anyways, that’s about all I have for my eats.  Random and getting back to healthy for sure!

Workouts this week have been great!  I’m scheduled for cardio and I think Tracy Anderson’s pregnancy workout today.  Since I’ll be working out from home it all depends on how well behaved Cameryn will be!  If I can’t get in TA’s workout I’ll do prenatal yoga this afternoon. I’ve been slacking on that one!

Here are my workouts so far:

  • Monday- 45 minutes on elliptical + core
  • Tuesday- 20 minutes running slow intervals + legs (my booty is so sore today, I did lots of squats with the new half racks all the gyms just got in)!
  • Wednesday- 45 minutes on the elliptical + TA’s workout or Yoga

I also need to get back to walking Quincy.  We tried doing a family run with him on Saturday but it was so cold, wet and windy outside we didn’t make it far.  With Cameryn and I almost over out colds we didn’t want to be exposed to that weather for an hour.

Working out again has been feeling so great, is giving me more energy and totally making me feel like my old self again!  I’ve missed it so much and can’t believe it’s been so long since I’ve been in a good routine.  Pregnancy will do that and you just need to keep your priorities straight and get after it when you can.

If you missed yesterday’s post, make sure you check out the Thanksgiving Turkey Workout.  It is a fun workout, can be done at home

On the agenda for today is a lot of Chic Pipsqueak stuff.  I’m trying to get all the new products uploaded and get all our mailings and ads ready for next week!  I’ll be having a Chic Pipsqueak giveaway on the blog next week and also having a special promo code for all BHL readers for Black Friday!  Other than that and working out the rest of my day will be spent playing and chasing after the little one!  Oh and pulling Thanksgiving recipes and starting my grocery list.  My sister and niece are coming and I can’t wait to have them in town!

I hope you all have a great Hump Day!

  • Are you ready for Thanksgiving?
  • What foods are you loving lately?

Monday Smoothie Recipe

18 Mar

Hey guys!  How was your weekend?  Mine was great!  We’ve been having the most beautiful weather in Arizona lately and it has been lovely!

Today has been a pretty great day as well.  Not too much going on in the home front but I was able to get some errands ran this morning, a work out in and four loads on laundry done already!  For us stay at home Moms, you know that is a great day and usually more than I get done in a few days!

Keith just got home from work so I decided to take a break from my day and finally post a blog post, it has been way too long.

Other than just day to day life, we had company for a month between my mom and Keith’s mom.  Cameryn had such a great time with her Grandmas!

The other fun and exciting thing going on in my life is something I can’t wait to share with you guys.  But, I just cant share it with you yet!  And no, I’m not pregnant!  I have been working hard for the past month and think in about one more month, I can let the hat out of the bag!  I’m really excited about it and think you guys will be too!  Smile

Workouts have been going good.  I’m still trying to get in five a week and also get at least three yoga sessions in.

Here is my planned workout schedule for this week:

  • Monday-  45 Minutes of Cardio at home and yoga
  • Tuesday-  20 minutes of intervals + strength and yoga
  • Wednesday- Off day (we have someone coming over to the house in the morning to fix out garage so I’m not sure if I will be able to get my cardio in)
  • Thursday- 20 minutes intervals + strength and yoga
  • Friday- 45 minutes of cardio + core
  • Saturday- 45 minutes of cardio at the gym
  • Sunday- Off day

Recently as I’ve been running faster with both steady state and especially interval run, I’ve noticed my hips have started hurting.  This isn’t new to me as they used to hurt a lot when I was running more before I had Cameryn.  But since I hadn’t been doing a lot of running I haven’t had the pain for a while.  It is an all day thing.  It even hurts when I’m trying to sleep at night which is no fun to be in pain while resting.  One of my clients (I only train one small group now since becoming a mama) gave me a gift certificate for a massage so I think I’m going to use it on Wednesday and get my hip worked on.  I think it is the combination of tight fascia and a tight IT band.  I guess it’s time to break out the good old foam roller again.  I’m really having a fun time running and running a lot faster than I used too, so I hope I can work this little problem out.

As far as yoga goes, Cameryn loves it.  I’m not even joking.  She loves when we practice together so I’m trying to work my way up to doing a little bit each day.  I pull out two yoga mats and she tries to copy what I’m doing.  Her favorite move is the downward dog, but that got too easy for her so now she likes to life her legs while doing it!  Smile

While we were having the month of moms, my eating habits definitely weren’t great.  Not bad, but not what I’m used to eating on a weekly basis.  Why is it that it is so hard to stick with routine when company is in town?  I also had more cocktails (mojitos and wine) during the week.  I usually try to only drink over the weekend, but with the moms in town, we were having wine every night and I was also indulging in mojitos at the clubhouse every time we went, which was often.

With swimsuit season only about a month away, I’m back into drinking lots of water and tea and also eating lots of fruits and vegetables again!

Speaking of what I’ve been eating, I have been loving this smoothie lately and wanted to share it with all of you.  I’ve become addicted to these little açaí packets and have been using them in smoothies.  Paired with bananas it is so good!

Açaí Banana Berry Smoothie

Serves 1

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 açaí smoothie packet
  • 1 1/2 bananas (mine were small I used)
  • 1/2 cup mixed berries
  • 1 scoop protein powder ( I use Sun Warrior Brown Rice Vanilla)

In a blender add the ingredients and blend until smooth.  Serve and enjoy!

I make mine thick so I eat mine from a bowl!

Easy as that!  Here is what I mean when I say an açaí smoothie packet.  You can use them in the frozen fruit section at the grocery store.

Here are my favorite organic mixed berries, you can find them for about 10 bucks at Costco!  Such a great deal!

And a cute Cameryn pic from the day!  My little ham!  For lunch, she had fresh peeled pear, quesadilla with flank steak, sautéed onions, mushrooms, red bell peppers and cheese, sweet potato and a small handful of Pirates Booty!  She doesn’t eat a lot of meat at all so I try and sneak it in here and there when I can.  But she is a smarty and usually picks it out!

Well that’s it for me today!

I need to get rested up for tonight.  We start night weaning Cameryn tonight and I’m both excited and nervous at how it will go.  Since she turned 14 months today I figured it is about time.  I’m ready to start sleeping again!  We are going to use the Gordon method and I’m hoping that in one week she’ll be sleeping better at night and not waking me up literally 10+ times a night to nurse.  I’ll keep you all updated on how the night weaning is going.  Fingers crossed!
